Sets I’m Building
For 2025, I have a few active set build projects.
The highest priority sets I am building are my master sets of Ben Wallace’s cards from each release of Topps and Topps Chrome and Bowman and Bowman Chrome, along with those released in Upper Deck Series 1 and 2 sets. I have collected Ben as my main PC for about six years now, and I am down to needing eight cards (2 base and 6 parallels and inserts) from his Topps and Bowman releases to complete this chase (not counting 1/1 parallels and printing plates). The two big cards I am hoping to find in the next year are his 2007 Topps Combination Rip Cards. These cards feature three players on the front with a tab on the back that could be used to open the card and reveal a miniature card inside. Ben has two cards in this subset, one with Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo, and another with Ron Artest and Dennis Rodman. I would gladly add a ripped or unripped copy of each to my Ben Wallace binder.
The Upper Deck master set is a bit farther from completion, but I have been able to pick off a few lower numbered cards each of the last few years and that has been sufficient progress. After all, building a set is about the journey, not the destination. If you have any serial numbered cards or patch cards from the Upper Deck flagship sets, please do not hesitate to reach out.
For traditional set projects, I am only two cards away (as of 2/27/2025) from completing my first ever PSA registry set entry: The 1997 Metal Universe base set, with each card graded PSA 8 or better. I’m not sure if I will try for another PSA registry set, but this has been an interesting challenge and new way for me to be active in the hobby. The remaining PSA graded cards I need from 1997 Metal Universe are:
71 Lindsey Hunter
82 Chris Childs
If you happen to have a lead on any of these cards, please feel free to email me at running4it@gmail.com or contact me on Instagram at MittenStateCollector. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer in finishing this project.
